Alfred Smith: "Dad will kiss Sue... And does Pippin want to speak to Dad? Alright, then Sue, can you pass the phone to Pippin? You're so good..."
Steve Burton: "Candice, give Daddy a kiss, then can you pass the phone to Chise? Yeah, Candice is such a good girl. Daddy will give Candice a kiss too..."
Alfred Smith and Steve Burton both had one thing in common: they doted on their daughters far more than on their sons. Hence, when they picked up their sons' calls, their tone became somewhat serious in an instant, earnestly inquiring how well their sons had done their arithmetic homework that they brought to school, before seriously clearing their throats and beginning to instruct their sons to take good care of their sisters.
With only two children, Alfred Smith was the first to hang up, while Steve Burton, sitting opposite him, continued talking into the phone: "Candice wants to take the call too? Okay, fine... Candice, Dad hasn't had lunch yet..."
