The reason Ruby Gregory took Steve Burton to the store where Maya Mitchell was shopping was to show Maya that Steve was accompanying her. However, their standing position was quite remote, and Maya didn't notice their presence when she came out of the fitting room and left.
If Maya left through the door, who knew where she would go next? Ruby blinked lightly, and just as Maya was taking the shopping bag from the sales assistant with a smile on her face, Ruby couldn't help but raise her voice and call out, "Steve Burton!"
The clothing store was very quiet, everyone was speaking in soft whispers, and the background music was a slow ballad playing at a lower volume. Ruby's raised voice easily spread throughout the entire store.
