Following her were several prisoners, nodding and bowing to her. They seemed familiar to Anna Jadwin, looking like the servants from Evelyn Ellis' house.
Anne frowned; was she also in prison now? And she even arranged for several servants to serve her?!
"Ms. Ellis is looking beautiful again today."
"What a beauty…" A flurry of compliments rang out.
"Felicia Sullivan, we meet again," Evelyn Ellis shouted, heading towards them.
Anna Jadwin pursed her lips, standing up straight.
Evelyn Ellis recognized her at once and didn't seem surprised at all. Had she known all along that she was in prison?
"Tired after all morning, aren't you?" Evelyn Ellis began, an elegant half-smile gracing her lips. "Look at your hands, why aren't you wearing gloves? It seems they'll be rotting more each day. There are no medications in the prison; unless you are seriously ill and near death, they won't let you see a doctor. Tsk tsk, how pitiful."
