Anna Jadwin listened to the sound of the door slamming shut like an explosion.
Unconsciously, she got out of bed and chased after him down the hallway.
It seemed as though a voice in her heart was driving her, telling her that if she didn't chase after him now, it would be too late, if she didn't say something now, it would be too late...
But what was there to say? Her mind was in a chaotic empty state!
"Wayne Bailey!"
Her voice cracked as she called him.
The loud sound in the spiral staircase froze him, making him lose his footing and tumble down the stairs helplessly.
Anna Jadwin's mind became even emptier, as if her heart had suddenly been scooped out by a giant spoon!
Wayne Bailey had taken a heavy fall, holding his head in excruciating pain, his eyes red, panting heavily.
Without any hesitation, he got up and tried to walk away, his steps even more unsteady.
Did he see her as some kind of venomous monster that he couldn't even escape from fast enough?
