Anna Jadwin held her breath, her gaze empty and dull, staring at Wayne Bailey's every stroke of the pen.
It seemed to take him an eternity to write a few words.
"I'm sorry to trouble Mr. Bailey…" Anna Jadwin inhaled deeply and reached out to take the handed-over divorce agreement.
Wayne Bailey suddenly withdrew his hand, leaving her grasping at nothing.
"Is Ms. Jadwin planning to leave just like that?"
Anna Jadwin stared at him, puzzled: "I don't understand what you mean."
"Before you go, you must return what you owe me."
Anna Jadwin's heart ached as she nodded: "I will return them to you. I have both rings upstairs, and I'll give them back to you later."
She hadn't accepted any other things from him.
"I'm not referring to material things."
Not material things?
Anna Jadwin was even more confused. She reached out for the agreement again, but he dodged her.
"Is Mr. Bailey toying with me?"
