A Black caregiver came over and rescued her from the crowd, laughing as she said, "The children all like you. They've been surrounding me all afternoon asking where you went."
Norris handed over the bag of candy she was holding and said with a bitter smile, "Sometimes being too popular can be a trouble too."
The caregiver laughed as she distributed the candy among the children. She was a local wanderer, and Rosa, feeling pity for her, had arranged for her to work at the orphanage.
Most of the caregivers in the orphanage were women, nearly all of them homeless.
Rosa was truly doing a great deed.
Sometimes, the kindness of humanity is really touching.
Norris emerged from the circle of children and walked towards the interior of the orphanage.
Selina came out from inside and upon seeing Norris, approached her and said, "Someone is looking for you."
Norris was taken aback.
