Norris Moore trembled incessantly from an inexplicable pain and fear.
How would Tilly Flower know, how could she possibly know that she, Norris, had already tried everything she spoke of? She had told Trenton Smith she loved him, couldn't bear to lose him, forbade him from marrying Aria Lulu, to stay and be with her; even as cousins, it wouldn't matter, as long as they could be together.
But it wouldn't work.
Many things in this world cannot be resolved by mere words.
Trenton Smith would die for her, but she couldn't stand by and watch him die.
She didn't want him to live in agony for her sake. Is loving someone expecting them to give up everything for oneself?
It is not.
To love someone is to wish for their well-being.
"Give me one night," she begged with pale lips, her voice low, "I'll be alright by tomorrow. Tilly, I will recover soon."
The pain couldn't be any worse.
She just had to endure it.
