Trenton Smith didn't shake off her hand, which somewhat relieved her.
The lights in the living room were off, only the TV was on, the news had passed, and the screen was playing inconsequential advertisements.
It was quiet all around, and Norris Moore led him upstairs.
When they reached her bedroom door, Norris Moore hesitated for a moment and asked in a low voice, "Are you sleeping in the guest room, or...?"
Trenton Smith glanced at her with downcast eyes, pushed her aside, and walked into her bedroom, then went into the bathroom.
