Norris Moore sat on the sofa, listening as Trenton Smith spoke with Maple Swallow at the door.
She quietly finished her bread alone, then went to wash her hands in the bathroom. When she came out, Trenton Smith had already left, and Maple Swallow, without her knowledge, had come in and was sitting on the sofa, lighting a cigarette.
He leaned back on the sofa, squinting as he sized her up.
Norris Moore knew there were still traces of emotion left on her, which made her feel a bit embarrassed. She turned around and draped a coat over herself.
Then she walked over and opened the door, letting the sunlight stream in.
"Ready to go with him?"
The man's voice came from the direction of the sofa, a deep timbre with no discernible emotion.
Norris Moore smiled and turned her head to look at Maple Swallow, "Yes."
