"It's not what we did to him," Maple said, glancing at her. "It's what you did to him."
"Me?" Norris Moore lifted her head, finding it laughable. "I'm not even in the United Kingdom, what could I possibly do to him?"
Maple spoke calmly, "That's right. You're not in the United Kingdom. Yet he ran all the way here because of you."
Norris interrupted him, "Don't you think it's strange to blame me?" She didn't even understand why Trenton Smith had run away to Mexico, and yet Maple was asserting he did it because of her.
The deafening cheers erupted from the arena once more; Maple's eyes darkened as he stood up straight and tilted his chin at Norris, "It's too noisy here. Let's go outside to talk."
Norris stood up from the ground, and thinking of the cut near Trenton's eye made her legs go weak.
He had almost lost that eye.
Regardless, since Maple had come, she hoped he would take Trenton away with him.
