The butler who was driving for him got out to carry his suitcase. Rufus Swallow, holding Norris Moore's hand, turned to the butler and asked, "I heard that my third brother is not attending the family banquet this year?"
"Yes, the young master declined the invitation to the family banquet, saying he's too busy with work to come over."
At these words, Rufus chuckled and said lazily, "He certainly has a lot of excuses."
He led Norris into the house.
Rufus's London villa, naturally, was even grander than the one in Japan. The butler handed the suitcase to a servant who had come out to greet them, then turned back to Rufus and said, "Young master, I am going back to the ancestral home. Your mother really misses you. If you have time today, remember to visit her."
Rufus replied indifferently, "I'll see her tomorrow. What's the point in seeing her today?"
The butler paused, then nodded, "Then, I will leave first."
