Her voice was so weak, like a feeble kitten. He seemed to have never seen her so frightened before.
He whispered to reassure her, "The doctors here are great. Don't worry, the baby will be fine."
Her fingers gripped the back of his clothes, trembling softly. The fear and despair made her body cold as ice.
Rufus comforted her for a while before letting her lie back in bed. She lay small and vulnerable-looking in the bed.
He took the barely-touched ramen that Norris had tried to eat out of the room, called a nurse to accompany her, and then went to the hospital's ventilation area, lowering his head to light a cigarette.
The doctor said she had a threatened miscarriage, and the situation was very unstable. They had to see if she could make it through the next three days.
