On the way back from the pier, the atmosphere in the car was rather heavy.
Eric Candi's face was expressionless to begin with, and now it seemed even colder. Ellen Candi, sitting next to him, was trembling slightly. He lowered his eyes, completely immersed in his thoughts, as if he didn't notice Ellen's fear at all.
Norris Moore sat in the front passenger seat, feeling somewhat downhearted. Trenton Smith comforted her, "If he refuses to make the trade, we'll find another way."
"Do you have any ideas right now?"
"He can't possibly keep her there for the rest of her life."
"But what if he really intends to imprison Aldana for life?" Norris was particularly uneasy.
Philip Shaw's sudden change of heart was beyond expectation. She hadn't anticipated that he would renege at the last minute. With Ellen on Eric's side, what did he intend to do with Aldana? Did he not want Ellen anymore?
Frowning, Norris found herself with a headache.
