The rain continued to fall gently.
Norris closed his eyes, leaning into his embrace and whispered, "Alex, will I cause trouble for you again?"
"No." Alex lifted his hand to support the back of her head, allowing her to sleep more comfortably in his arms, "Ignore him and keep sleeping."
His body silhouette had already grown into that of a tall and slender adult man, while Norris remained small and unchanged. So many years had passed, and she still resembled herself at eighteen, as if she had never grown up.
At two thirty in the morning, Norris finally drifted into deep sleep in his arms. Alex rose from the sofa, carrying her to the bed, and gently laid her down.
He sat by the bed and quietly watched her for a while before reaching out to test the temperature of her forehead. She didn't have a fever, but her body was still somewhat cool, unable to warm up.
He walked over to adjust the air conditioning temperature a little higher before strolling to the window and looking down.
