Trenton Smith walked in, handed his suit jacket draped over his arm to the servant who greeted him.
He didn't see Norris Moore, who was usually on the sofa, and thought she might still be sleeping upstairs. He was about to wake her up when he heard the butler speak to him nervously, "Mr. Smith, Miss Moore just drove off. She told us not to follow, and we didn't dare to."
Trenton's hand, which was loosening his cuff, paused slightly. He turned his head to ask, "Where did she go?"
His voice wasn't loud, but the hidden fear within made the butler shudder. Trenton's expression, usually gentle and comforting, had darkened suddenly, changing his entire aura.
It was as if he had transformed into a different person.
Without a word, Trenton turned around abruptly and left the room, carrying with him a chilling gloom.
The servants in the grand hall were silenced, regaining their composure only a while after Trenton had driven away.
