She turned around and threw the medicine back on the bedside table. Then turned to Trenton, warning him in a stern tone, "I told you, my illness has nothing to do with you, I don't need your pity. Miss White is your responsibility, not me. So, stop meddling in my affairs!"
Trenton's gaze landed heavily on her face, her audacious demeanor making it difficult to discern her illness. She hid her thoughts so deeply that even someone as astute as Tilly Flower failed to perceive her abnormality.
"Norris," he quietly said, "I don't pity you."
"..."
"I worry for you."
Norris Moore paused, then frowned and turned away, "Worry about your Miss White. I'm fine."
Trenton sighed lightly, approached and held her in his arms, sitting on the bed. Norris Moore struggled in his arms briefly, before settling quietly within his embrace.
She leaned against him, bored, playing with her hair, while Trenton coaxed her, "How about moving in with me, hmm?"
"No."
