Every time she thought about Aldana's smile back then, she felt bone-deep hatred for the man who had caused her to become what she was today.

As Aldana cuddled and coaxed Guoguo, she reached out to hold Norris' hand, dug the shell out of her palm, and looked down at the red mark on Norris' hand.
"Does it hurt?"
Norris shook her head.
Her heart ached.
"I've stopped thinking about those things," Aldana gently rubbed her palm and smiled lightly, "As long as you and Guoguo are fine now, I'm already content."
Norris stood in front of her, looking down at her dim, lightless right eye. Feeling her heart ache once more, she turned her head away, her eyes reddened, as she gazed into the distance.
She couldn't even protect one person.
In the end, it was Aldana who had to comfort her.
