The woman let out a cold, quiet laugh that echoed down the empty hall, "Whom do you think should be thanked for this? Nobody asked for your false kindness! Let go of me!"
Secretary Lindsay had never heard anyone talk to Trenton in this way. She felt her temples throb, fear and apprehension etched on her face as she trailed behind Trenton.
A delicate arm reached out, her hand on Trenton's chest, forcefully trying to push him away. Under the bright lights, intermittent indigo love bites on her white and tender arm were visible. Secretary Lindsay shifted her gaze, finding it hard to direct her eyes on the woman.
"Norris Moore!" The man's voice possessed a hint of anger, "Keep this up and I'll make sure you stay in bed for a week."
"You bastard!" Norris cursed him.
Her voice was slightly hoarse, as if she had been crying. Secretary Lindsay couldn't see her face, but could feel her helpless exasperation.
