Trenton Smith stared intently at her expression, feeling that he should ask something, but also feeling that there was no need to inquire further.
Some things had already become secrets between them, unspoken understandings. Once said out loud, it seemed that they would not even be able to maintain the semblance of calm at this moment.
He lowered his head and kissed her forehead, asking, "Want to eat something?"
Norris absently played with the hair on her chest, her head bowed, "Whatever. I don't have much of an appetite right now."
Trenton hugged her for a while, then released her, placed her on the bed, and caressed her face, "I'll ask the doctor what you can eat since you just woke up."
Norris smiled at him, "Thank you."
Trenton looked at her smile, his face expressionless, retracted his hand, and turned to leave the room.
Norris leaned against the head of the bed, her gaze fixed on the empty space, and she chuckled softly.
