Norris Moore, dazed from the impact and nauseous from the dog's saliva, barely clung to consciousness in the extreme terror. All she could perceive was the Tibetan Mastiff's gaping mouth, its lethal fangs glinting coldly under the light, remnants of its last meal coiled around them.
The fear that seized her left her mind a blank. The mere thought that she was about to become the dog's meal or worse, be mauled to death, was paralyzing.
Nothing could have terrified her more.
She contemplated how misfortunate she was for encountering Trenton Smith, a deranged man, and now this rabid-looking fiend of a dog.
The Tibetan Mastiff licking his lips, looked down at her in excitement, its heavy paws pressing on her shoulder—it lunged at her neck— "Ah!!!" Norris screamed in horror.
At the same moment, "bang!" something smashed through the villa's main door, followed by two gunshots reverberating in the air.
