Alex Miller came over and sat next to Evelyn Miller, gently holding her cold hand: "Auntie."
Evelyn let out a low sigh, patting the back of his hand, "I don't blame you. I just don't understand why Trenton Smith is making such a big fuss."
"He's regained his memory now and wants Norris to return to him," Alex's eyes darkened. "If I give up, what about Norris? Should she go back to be mistreated by him?"
Evelyn looked at him, "I just don't understand this one point. — If he dislikes Norris so much, why would he expend so much effort to try to get her back?"
Alex was momentarily stunned, his eyes flickering with a hidden spark as he gripped Evelyn's hand tighter: "Auntie, no matter what the reason is, I won't let her go back. As long as she's unwilling, I'll do my best to protect her. I want her to be happy by my side."
A man's protection for a woman can only go so far.
If she doesn't love him, then he'll let go, and leave far away, not becoming a burden on her.
