Norris Moore took a sip of tea, her brows furrowed, and her expression was unreadable. "What will happen to him according to the law?"
"For intentional homicide, the punishment is the death penalty, life imprisonment or imprisonment for ten years or more; if the circumstances are comparatively light, imprisonment will be for not less than three years but not more than ten." McKinney White paused and looked at Norris Moore. "It depends on whether Mr. Smith survives and leaves the operating room alive. Otherwise, trust me, even without my involvement, someone will make things very difficult for your friend."
Norris Moore didn't speak, her head lowered.
McKinney White watched her.
The slender and bony woman's face was so pale it seemed devoid of any color. Her lowered brows suggested tranquility and a tinge of melancholy.
She must be very distressed, so distraught that she didn't know what else to say.
