After a while, she asked softly, "Alex, is it worth it?"
"Not worth it." He looked at her. "But I love you, and I have no regrets."
Norris closed her eyes, "Do you know that if he dies, you'll have to die too?"
"I know."
Norris couldn't continue speaking.
"After this is over, your aunt will take you abroad, and Elias and your father's illness can be treated in the United States. Then, you can live a good life there."
"You want me to watch you go to jail and then live a good life outside?" Norris clenched her fists, "If all the people I love die, what's the point of living?" She stood up, "I won't let you die."
She walked out.
"Norris."
Alex called her from behind.
Norris's footsteps paused slightly.
"Norris, he bullied you. I could tolerate it if I didn't see it, but he bullied you in front of me."
That was Norris, the one trampled into dust by Trenton Smith. The Norris he cherished and pampered, unwilling to let her suffer even a little bit.
How could he bear it?
