The nurse entered the room for a check-up and was shocked to see Norris bleeding all over the bed sheets. She hurriedly rushed over to apply medicine and bandage the wound.
"What happened, Miss Moore?" The nurse asked as she attended to Norris, "How did you hurt your hand like this?"
Nurse Ruben couldn't comprehend how Norris managed to get herself into such a state, especially after just waking up.
"I'm sorry. I was trying to peel an apple," Norris sat obediently on the bed, extending her hand and smiling apologetically, "I accidentally cut my hand."
Her smile was both genuine and innocent, and although the nurse had a slight suspicion, she was swayed by Norris's smile. After bandaging up Norris's wound, the nurse took the apple Trenton had peeled and placed it in front of Norris. "Miss Moore, why didn't you eat one of the apples that were already here?"
Norris looked down and noticed the several neatly cut apples on the fruit plate, one of which Trenton had just peeled. Some were even delicately cut into rabbit shapes and neatly arranged.
Norris looked at the orderly plate of apple bunnies and thought to herself that the guy must be somewhat neurotic...
"I'm sorry. I don't like eating apples." Norris smiled.
The nurse glanced at her bandaged hand and remained silent.

Norris sat on the bed and gently stroked her bandaged left hand. Then she softly asked, "Nurse, could you please check the condition of the patients in room 3102 and 4355 for me?"
She had been unconscious for three days, and the time she had promised to pay Principal Chapman was fast approaching.
Tomorrow was the beginning of the month, and she hadn't sent the payment yet.
At this thought, Norris's heart sank a little bit more.
Up to now, she had neither escaped Trenton's control nor raised the money. She had rescued neither her brother nor father, and received no forgiveness or mercy from him. He still tormented her, even refusing to let her atone for his past humiliation with her life—she was so foolish, and she didn't know what to do now.
The nurse nodded, "Sure, Miss Moore."
When the nurse left, Norris let out a gentle breath, reclining slowly on the hospital bed. She raised her hand and tenderly rubbed her abdomen, where a strip of bandage was wrapped, causing a dull pain.
She looked down at the fruit knife in the trash.
What a pity.
She licked her lips and thought regretfully.
Death would have put an end to it all today.
Now she was stuck in this situation.
From here on, she would rather be dead.

After Norris took a nap and woke up, there was already someone standing in the ward.
A young man stood there, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, in a suit and leather shoes, looking quite like an elite.
"Hello, Miss Moore. My last name is White. You can just call me Lawyer White," he said.
Norris stared at him for a while and then smiled, "Lawyer White? I remember a year ago, a rape_ case occurred in Tung City, and the defendant's lawyer was also named White."
Lawyer White smiled faintly, exuding elegance.
"Being able to successfully argue that the rape was consensual under such strong evidence, Lawyer White gained fame overnight. He was quite impressive back then." Norris said sweetly, her face full of smiles.
Ever since that incident, McKinney White's name had become well-known, and his figure would often appear at various social events.
Norris had always despised those who were only driven by money and power, and she never thought that Trenton also had connections with such people now.
