Trenton Smith walked over to her and held her in his arms, slightly frowning at her bare feet and whispered, "Why aren't you wearing slippers?"
Speaking flatly, Norris said, "I was in a hurry and forgot to put them on."
Frowning, Trenton turned around and commanded the servant, "Get her a pair of slippers."
Norris's gaze fell on Eric Candi and the others nearby, and she asked without emotion, "Why did you bring them back?"
Eric walked over and placed Ellen on the sofa, speaking softly, "Ellen, are you thirsty? Do you want a drink of water?"
Ellen curled up, hugging her legs, and whispered fearfully, "I'm scared..."
Her expression was panicked, not feigned fear, but genuine terror of this place.
Eric reached out and embraced her, gently caressing her back, "It's okay... I'm here with you, no one will hurt you."
Ellen bit her lip, her eyes downcast as if she had been frightened to tears, shivering and hiding in Eric's arms.
