Norris Moore may never in his life forget the scene the day he found Aldana Candi.
It was a rainy winter day when Norris received a long-overdue call from his friend. He spent the day driving to a dilapidated village in the neighboring city. There, in a run-down hospital, he found Aldana who had just given birth.
Her Achilles' tendon had been severed; she was blind in one eye. Someone generous had paid for her medical expenses, but her body was so weak that she was unable to produce milk. The pitiful little one was born prematurely and had a severe heart condition that required surgery at a better hospital.
Aldana probably wouldn't have called him if it hadn't been for the child. She did not want to trouble him.
Norris Moore couldn't help crying when he saw Aldana. He could barely recognize her since she was so thin. Her exquisitely gentle face was almost devoid of any flesh.
