Rufus Swallow exhaled a long puff of smoke directly onto her face, playfully grinning at the woman with downcast eyes while holding his cigarette between his teeth. "What are you trying to do, Sister Zara?" One of his hands captured Zara White's pale fingers, lifting them to his lips for a soft kiss. His lips were thin and pallid, contrasted by the cruelly cold glint in his blue eyes, which made him appear as dangerous as a wild beast. "Aren't you afraid of offending Trenton Smith? You saved me."
Zara White extracted her fingers from his clenched hand, her head dropping to organize her surgical tools, "I just didn't want to see someone die in front of me."
