It took a good while before Michelle Campbell's breathing gradually steadied.
Drinking a cup of warm water made her feel much better indeed.
"Thank you, I'm feeling a lot better now." She raised her head to look at Samuel Noah Jackson, who was gently rubbing her back, and then revealed a sweet smile.
Samuel's movements halted immediately, but his gaze fixated unexpectedly on Michelle's empty left hand.
His black pupils narrowed immediately, permeating with a hint of displeasure.
"Where's the ring?"
Why wasn't the wedding ring on her hand?
Upon hearing this, Michelle was taken aback. She looked down at her own left hand and only then remembered that she had hung the ring around her neck.
"It's here." She took out the ring that was hidden under her collar, "I found it a nuisance, so I wore it around my neck." She thought for a moment, then said.
"A nuisance?" Samuel furrowed his brows unpleasedly.
"Michelle Campbell, our wedding ring is a nuisance?"
