"No accident?" Korig repeated warily. He exchanged tense looks with Ezra and Aurora. Just what did this mysterious mermaid mean?
Naya smiled, flashing pearly teeth. She idly caressed the surface of the serene lake, ripples spreading from her touch.
"No need for alarm. I've simply been observing your actions in the city from afar. When you ventured into those chaotic ruins, I took advantage of the opportunity to redirect you here."
Her dark gaze turned solemn. "We have much to discuss. You three are caught up in very dangerous games, far beyond anything you can imagine."
Ezra's eyes narrowed. "What exactly do you know about us and the city?" He stepped closer, muscles coiled. "And what is this place?"
Naya's laugh was musical, like chimes in the breeze. "So many questions, young one. In time I shall answer what I can." Her expression grew serious once more.
"For now, know that I aim to help, not hinder."
