Chapter 6 - Dating? (1)

Jacqueline immediately touched her neck. Her neck was completely empty. When did it fall off her neck, she wondered herself.

Wait, why was he holding it? Even if she dropped it, he left before her, however, if he found her bracelet, he should return it to her immediately.

Jacqueline frowned. It was the bracelet her mother gave her on the last day she visited her mother and twin sister at the Martin family mansion. It was extremely important to her.

"Yes, that's my bracelet. It's so important to me," she texted.

Seeing her message, Benjamin, who was sitting in the office of his mansion, smiled. "Very important"? His eyes glinted with satisfaction.

Hank, Benjamin's assistant, entered the office. He approached Benjamin and was surprised to see Lady Kelly's bracelet.

"Don't tell me you stole it from Lady Kelly," Hank laughed helplessly.

"I didn't. I just borrowed it from her," smiled Benjamin while stroking the bracelet.

Jacqueline was still waiting for a text from Benjamin, she was very worried. It seemed to be the last thing her mother left her as they hadn't seen each other for years or maybe forever. Even so, she kept the fond memories of when they lived together in her mind. This bracelet was the proof for them.

Finally, she received a text from Benjamin after more than 3 minutes. He insisted that he would return it to her tomorrow evening.

"Don't tell me you stole... uhm borrow it from her to make sure she has dinner with you tomorrow night," Hank raised an eyebrow at the text Benjamin sent to Jacqueline.

"No need. Claire will make sure Jane arrives tomorrow night. And, it's not a casual dinner, it's a date," corrected Benjamin while his gaze remained on the bracelet. "She didn't lie, she took good care of it," his deep voice echoed throughout the room.

Hank frowned, trying to understand the motive behind his boss's strange actions.

It was difficult for anyone to understand what Benjamin was thinking and doing.

After that, Benjamin just wished her good night. Jacqueline put the phone down on the table beside the bed and was startled to discover that Rosemary was still watching her.

"You startled me," Jacqueline said.

"Sorry, I was just curious," Rosemary readjusted her sleeping position.

"Are you afraid of him?" Rosemary asked. "Your forehead sweats when you text him."

Jacqueline immediately groped her forehead with her right hand. Her forehead was indeed covered in sweat.

"Always," Jacqueline affirmed as she lay down. "He is a mafia don."

"Maybe he's not as bad as you think," Rosemary said.

"Yeah, you were successfully bribed by his card," said Jacqueline, still closing her eyes and trying to fall asleep.

"No, Jane," Rosemary's voice said. "It's just, uhm. Well, anyway, my sympathy for him is 10%. And, I'll go with you tomorrow."

"No need, I'll go alone," said Jacqueline. She was very grateful to Rosemary because she had always been with her. However, she had to take responsibility for her choices. She did not want to involve anyone else.

The next day, after breakfast, Claire's assistant came to pick up Jacqueline. Before she walked out of Rosemary's house, Rosemary gave her a short gun.

Jacqueline was surprised, then confused. Rosemary winked at her while helping her hide the gun in her bag and gave her a goodbye kiss, "Good luck, my girl."

The place Claire's assistant took her to was not the Turner family mansion where they met yesterday, but a villa in the suburbs.

Claire was not there, her assistant handled everything.

The first thing she had to do upon entering this villa was meet the designer and make up artist. They would take her body measurements and tailor a makeup suitable for her. Then, she was taken to a large room with a table and chair in the center, surrounded by many flower pots.

"Because of the rush of time, we cannot prepare a standard classroom for you," said Madam Claire's assistant.

Jacqueline nodded and guessed what she had to do next. It was learning the code of conduct of the upper class and some of the hallmarks of Jasmine. It was enough to help her this evening.

Her educator was a young but extremely strict woman. Jacqueline was hit in the arm with a ruler by her when she was unable to complete the quest.

Although a little embarrassed and confused, Jacqueline understood that the educator was just trying to help her memorize all the information she needed in the shortest possible time.

Or maybe she never hated anyone. Her father was a devout Christian, he valued forgiveness and she learned it from him too.

Through the efforts of Jacqueline and the educator, she was able to grasp the essentials, but they did not have the time to practice.

...

She was embarrassed and confused when she saw the outfit they prepared for her. A white mini dress with luxury jewelry. It's simple but elegant.

But she never wore a mini dress.

Haha, it was not because she was a shy virgin, she simply didn't have time to wear a mini dress and go to a party.

Even though her father never asked her to work to pay off his debt.

But she understood that for a poor family like hers, education was the only way for her to improve their standard of living.

She devoted all her time to her studies, didn't maintain many friendships and didn't even date.

Jacqueline was confused and shy when she imagined herself wearing this dress.

But in a certain corner of her mind, she was a little excited.
