Catherine sat at a quaint café table, her gaze wandering over the picturesque surroundings. She couldn't help but marvel at the beauty of the day that lay before her.
A young man tinkered with his beloved bicycle behind her, and a familiar figure came into view. "Catherine? Is that really you?" he exclaimed.
Catherine looked up and broke into a smile. "Jack, it's been ages since we last met. What a pleasant surprise to see you here."
Jack approached, taking a seat beside Catherine. "It feels like we've been avoiding each other ever since our breakup. I'm sorry for the hurt I caused."
"No need to apologize anymore, Jack. That's all in the past. But I still wonder why you chose to cheat on me."
Jack's gaze fell to the ground, filled with regret. "I don't know, Catherine. I got caught up in a mess, and I was wrong to hurt you."
"I know that wasn't your true self, Jack. I knew that even when we were friends. But what I'm curious about is why you didn't talk to me. We could have understood and worked through it together."
"I don't know, Catherine. At that time, I felt like I had lost everything. But now, after our breakup, I've realized how much I've lost someone special."
Catherine gently brushed her hand against Jack's cheek. "Jack, we all make mistakes, and I believe that things can be repaired. But right now, we need to focus on what's around us."
Jack looked at Catherine, his face a mixture of contemplation and hesitance, as if he wanted to say something but was holding back. Their meeting seemed to unfasten a knot that had been tightly wound within Catherine for years.
"I truly am sorry, Catherine. I've learned a valuable lesson from losing you."
Catherine chuckled, as if casting off the weight from her heart. "I've learned my own lessons too, Jack. We've grown and found patience, forgiveness, and genuine love through this journey."
"Could we ever have a chance at being friends again?"
"Why not? What matters is that we've learned and are willing to change to build a new connection."
The conversation between Catherine and Jack continued, as they prepared to open a new chapter in their lives and become friends once more. Little did Catherine know that this forgiveness would lay the groundwork for new challenges ahead.
Film set, August 25, 2019
Catherine was getting her makeup done, preparing for the next scene. It was an outdoor scene, so meticulous preparation was necessary.
Reading the script for a crucial scene, Catherine noticed some issues that needed discussion with the director for resolution. She contacted fellow actors to brainstorm solutions and find ways to address the situation. Today, she was tasked with a scene that required multiple props, so careful attention was crucial.
However, during the preparations, she happened to notice a loose and unstable light fixture. She immediately recognized the danger and tried to warn everyone before any mishap could occur. But before she could say anything, the light suddenly fell to the ground.
Catherine reacted swiftly, calling the medical and security teams on set. She also reached out to the filmmakers to inform them of the incident and begin managing the situation. Unfortunately, the male actor was injured by the shattered glass, leading to a temporary halt in filming.
"Why does something like this happen just when everything seemed fine?"
"How can we find a replacement actor on such short notice?"

"Jack, you have a very attractive face, and although this is your first time taking on a new role, I hope you'll succeed."
"Action!" the director called out.
The scene depicted a beautiful love story between actress Lucy and assistant Tom. Lucy won the Best Actress award of the year, while Tom was merely an unnoticed assistant. The scene ended with a passionate kiss between Lucy and Tom.
"Cut! Jack, you did great; you saved us."
"Thank you for giving me the opportunity, Director."
"Thank Catherine for suggesting you for the role."
As Catherine rested in her dressing room, Jack approached and handed her a cup of coffee. "Catherine, how could you trust me to take on this role?"
"Back in university, weren't you passionate about drama clubs? So in times like this, I believe you can do it."
The atmosphere shifted awkwardly as memories of their university days came rushing back to Catherine. She suddenly felt fatigued, burdened by the years of competing with Tiffany and the rumors surrounding her family.
Rumors about her parents' financial struggles circulated, leading to criticism and a tarnished reputation. She realized that these rumors not only affected her honor and confidence but could also impact her educational goals and future career.
Instead of succumbing to the rumors, Catherine resolved to work diligently and achieve exceptional academic results. She seized opportunities for part-time work and scholarships to alleviate the financial burden on her family.
The academic rivalry between Tiffany and Catherine at university was an interesting and competitive story. Both were exceptional students with ambitious goals.
"Catherine, I nearly aced all my subjects in the recent exams. How about you?"
"I'm disappointed in myself; I aced only two subjects. I'm frustrated with myself."
In each semester, Tiffany and Catherine pushed each other to achieve higher scores and earn prestigious scholarships. They joined academic clubs and research groups to enhance their knowledge and skills.
This rivalry not only propelled Tiffany and Catherine toward loftier goals but also nurtured traits of competition, patience, and determination in their lives. Regardless of who emerged victorious, both had become outstanding students and were destined for success in their respective futures.
It was only when Catherine saw Tiffany and Jack embracing that her world shattered.
"Jack, how could you betray me, the one I trusted, and prove my trust wrong?"
"I'm sorry; things weren't as you think."
"Tiffany, I thought we were competing in academics; little did I know you were also competing for my love."
Catherine left, tears streaming down her face, leaving Jack and Tiffany standing in silence. The following days were a string of negativity for Catherine, as she dealt with the loss of her loved one and the betrayal of her friend.
Back to reality...
"How are you doing, Catherine? Why did you suddenly become quiet?"
"I'm a bit tired today, so let's talk about it tomorrow. Goodbye."
"Sure, goodbye."
Jack knew that even though Catherine had forgiven him, there were still barriers in her heart. He was determined to find a way to mend their relationship once again.
Ding dong, the doorbell rang.
"I'm here."
"Catherine, would you like to have dinner? I made beef bourguignon."
"Sounds delightful; I'd love to see how you cook."
The tantalizing aroma wafting from the kitchen evoked memories of the sweet tastes of her once happy family. A smile played on her lips before fading.
"Why isn't it good? Why are you crying?"
"It's not that the taste isn't wonderful; it's just that I suddenly remembered some moments from the past."
This sweet scene, the epitome of happiness, encapsulated everything Thomas had hoped for over the past years. He wished for a lasting marriage.
