Keira Leaf would occasionally push him around the hospital garden for a walk, but it was quite obvious that he didn't like going out much.
That day, after having breakfast, Keira Leaf sat by the bedside, peeling an apple for Joshua Sulliven. Her lack of skill, however, meant the fruit was somewhat butchered.
Joshua Sulliven, sitting in the bed, turned his head towards the window and, with his eyes closed, basking in the warm sunlight, said solemnly, "We're going home today."
"Ah--!" Keira Leaf was startled by his words, and the fruit knife in her hand cut through her index finger. Her pale fingertips instantly bled profusely, dropping two drops onto the pristine white bedsheet.
"What happened? Did you cut yourself?"
Joshua Sulliven quickly reached out to check on Keira Leaf, but his instincts failed him and he grasped at air, getting somewhat frantic right away, "Your hand! Let me see--!"
No sooner had he spoken than he stopped short...
