Since she was a child, Alice Smith dyed her hair in various colors, smoked, drank, fought, and wore a row of earrings on her ears. She had an abortion and took drugs, and did virtually every other thing that would define her as a bad kid. Yet, it was this very person who had been using all her efforts to protect her younger brother.
It wasn't until Max Sully was fifteen or sixteen years old that Alice's life began to improve. She stopped fighting and taking drugs, and although she occasionally smoked and drank, she dyed her hair back to its original color. She started learning to cook, often making delicious dishes for Max, like a frail-looking young girl who refused to be beaten by the hardships of life.
Sometimes, she thought that maybe it was because their worlds were so different that they found each other so compatible.
