Mason Scott thought about it and felt that this alone wouldn't be enough to make Larry Scott back down.
So he turned to Tania Scott, who hadn't made a sound, and said, "Tania, your father has done such a thing; he has wronged you. Go and wake your mother up quickly!"

Larry brought Lily into the study room and switched on the lights.
The room was instantly bright.
It was too dark outside before, and Lily had not noticed anything particular about Larry holding her hand.
It was only now, with the light on, that she subconsciously looked down and realized... Larry, holding her left hand, was missing a pinky finger.
The entire pinky finger of his left hand had been neatly severed from the base.
"Did I scare you?" Larry withdrew his hand, his gaze at her complex and tumultuous.
It held a mixture of agitation and fear.
Fear that she would be disappointed in him.
