Mrs. Aiden had finished speaking, expecting to see Collins Aiden's excited response.
However, to her surprise, Collins Aiden merely lifted his gaze slightly, looked at her once, then released the door handle, turned around, and walked toward the windowsill. He sat there, staring out the window at the scenery, lost in thought.
"Collins, did you already know?" Mrs. Aiden, as if realizing something and astonished by his reaction, blurted out.
Her palm suddenly clenched tightly.
He had known all along that Ella Jackson was at the Yakov Family. Why hadn't he gone to bring her back, choosing instead to shut himself away, allowing his speech disorder to relapse and even develop into autism?
He didn't think there was anything wrong with himself at all. Looking at her, his eyes instead showed bewilderment, as if questioning why it was bad for him to stay peacefully quiet.
Mrs. Aiden didn't know what else she could say and merely turned to look at the old waiter.
