Grace Yakov's eyes flickered, then she suddenly spoke up.
Hearing this, the smile at the corner of Evelyn Sherman's mouth paused slightly.
"The Yakov Family didn't need to wade into these muddy waters; if it weren't for my insistence on your attendance, you wouldn't have had to take the risk. It was me who put you in this tough spot in the first place. I understand that you want to leave a way out for the Yakov Family," Evelyn said with a trace of candor in her eyes, smiling.
"Moreover, if Chester Yale loses, Henry Yale definitely won't let me off the hook. Whether or not I become a shield for the Yakov Family doesn't really make much of a difference. Being able to help you actually makes me feel like my worth has greatly increased."
Grace Yakov had navigated the business world for so many years—she was not short-sighted.
Naturally, she also knew that nothing is absolute.
