Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: He doesn't like it, but she does!

She felt a pain in her heart and took a few steps forward, staring at the pastries in the trash bin, a kind of anger called "food lover" ignited instantly in her blood.

Seeing Chester Yale reaching for another plate, Evelyn Sherman reacted quickly this time.

Without thinking, she blurted out, "I like it, I really like it!"

"Whoosh——"

Chester loosened his grip and the whole plate of food fell into the trash bin again.

Evelyn stood there stiffly, her hand still poised to save the delicious food, watching the plate and her hand were only a centimeter apart, unable to speak out of heartache.

Don't waste it if you don't want to eat it! She likes it if he doesn't!

Looking at the meals in the trash bin, Evelyn's cheeks puffed up and her face turned red.

He wasn't really asking if she liked it or not. He was just deliberately tormenting her.

Next, Evelyn watched with wide eyes as CEO Chester threw the dishes from the long banquet table one by one into the trash.

When one trash bin was full, someone would immediately come to replace it.

Until almost everything on the table was disposed of by him, only one plate of crawfish was left!

Evelyn's eyes were wide open, and her petite body involuntarily moved forward, instinctively wanting to snatch the plate of crawfish.

It was her favorite dish! He could give it to her if he didn't want to eat it; she wouldn't mind!

Seeing her body almost pressed against the table, Chester's eyes flickered, and his fingers clenched slightly.

What a coincidence, the last plate of food turned out to be crawfish…

He knew she loved crawfish, loved them to the point of madness.

He remembered, back then, there was a very popular lobster shop near the school, and it was always packed anytime they went.

One year on her birthday, he couldn't afford a cake or roses, so she grinned at him and said, "I don't care about those things. All you need to do is get me some crawfish, and I'll be defeated!"

That day, he accompanied her, waiting in a long line, and finally got a serving of crawfish. Halfway through their walk, it suddenly rained.

Neither of them had an umbrella, and they ran wildly, their clothes soaked through, looking very miserable.

He looked at her nervously, afraid to see even a trace of disappointment on her face.

But what he saw was her squatting on the steps of the school building with a serving of crawfish, watching the rain outside growing heavier, her innocent and beautiful face had a satisfied smile.

"Chester Yale, having you by my side and my favorite crawfish, this is definitely the best birthday I've ever had!"

That year, she was the carefree Little Princess, while he was a poor, penniless kid. She personally told him that he was the best birthday gift God had given her.

But not long after, she lost that best gift from him...

Thinking of the incident that happened four years ago, the tenderness in Chester's eyes was gradually replaced by coldness. Looking at the protective Evelyn in front of the crawfish, his mouth twitched, as if he was smiling but not really.

"Come here, peel the shrimp shells for me."

"..."

Hearing his voice, Evelyn subconsciously thought he was throwing away the crawfish. She reached out and quickly picked up the plate.

The next second, she froze.

She looked down at the crawfish in her hand, then looked up at Chester.

Had she heard him wrong just now? He wasn't throwing it away?

But letting her peel the shrimp shells and not letting her eat the shrimp meat seemed more torturous, didn't it?

Evelyn carried the crawfish and slowly walked to his side, put on gloves, and started peeling the shrimp shells.

As she peeled one, he ate one.
