Upon hearing that, Lucas's hand paused for a moment, as he looked up at her and said without hesitation.
"I told you long ago that I was pursuing you."
"You clearly know that I love Chester Yale, yet you're still willing to help me meet him. Is that how you pursue someone?" Evelyn sneered at him, picked up her chopsticks, and stuffed a piece of meat into her mouth.
She'd been busy all day and hadn't even had a bite to eat after the scare.
"You don't believe me?" Lucas furrowed his brow.
"You don't have to say it." She didn't expect him to tell her the truth anyway.
Evelyn tasted the steamed fish on the table, which was really delicious. She stopped paying attention to Lucas and began eating the fish like crazy.
It wasn't until the plate was left with just a fishbone that she satisfiedly smacked her lips.
She looked up at Lucas, who had long finished his meal and was now watching her eat.
"Now that you're done, can you continue talking?"
