Evelyn Sherman slept like a child, her small body curled up on the sofa, her face resting on her arm. It seemed as if she was dreaming about something unpleasant, as her brows furrowed from time to time.
Chester Yale leaned back with his tall, robust body, slanting against his office chair. A second later, he stood up from the chair and walked towards the sofa.
His footsteps were light, and he sat down on the sofa across from Evelyn.
His dark eyes stared at her unblinkingly...
Noticing her slight movement of curling further into the sofa, Chester took off his jacket and covered her with it.
"Mmm..." Evelyn murmured contentedly, curling up with his jacket and falling into a deeper sleep.
"..." Chester's gaze deepened, staring at her still childlike sleeping face while his hand by his side silently clenched.
It was as if his memory rewound back to four years ago.
Back then, she didn't like covering herself with a quilt when sleeping but preferred to curl up with his jacket.
