Collins reached the last room, turned the doorknob, and saw the photo frames on the bedside table and desk. His eyes softened as he stepped inside.
He walked up to her dressing table and picked up a small photo frame from it.
Recognizing a young Ella Jackson in the photo, his eyebrows lifted with a hint of smile, and his distinctly articulated fingers tenderly brushed over the photo.
After setting down the photo frame, he turned and walked to the edge of her bed, sat down, and looked up, taking in her room that managed to be both simple and suffused with the warmth of a young girl's heart.
