Daniel Cooper finished fussing over her, then turned back to the bathroom to take a cold shower. By the time he came out, it was already two o'clock at midnight.
Moving quietly, he lifted the blanket and was about to turn off the light and lie down when he heard the phone vibrating on the bedside table.
Although he picked it up quickly, Amelia's sleep was shallow, and she was still woken up, but she just lazily opened a slit in her eye and did not move her body.
Daniel turned his head to glance at the woman lying by his side and asked in a suppressed voice, "What's the matter?"
"Mr. Cooper," the voice on the phone belonged to Nathan Taylor, "Lilian Parker woke up, but the doctor said her condition is still unstable, and she might not stay conscious for long, and could slip back into a coma at any moment. So..."
"I'll be right there."
"It's snowing outside now, and the roads are slippery, do you need me to pick you up?"
"No need, you stay there. I'll drive myself over."
