The next afternoon, Amelia received another call from Mr. Stanley, who said he wanted to add more orders due to business expansion but with a condition that she should accompany him as his female companion to a cocktail party.
She frowned, Mr. Stanley's words are exactly the same as those of Minerva's Mr. Parker, which made her feel a bit cautious.
But she still agreed, then went to the mall to pick out an evening gown and went to a beauty salon for a simple hairdo and makeup.
At eight o'clock in the evening, Mr. Stanley personally drove to pick her up. Amelia observed carefully and found that the other party's attitude was as polite and reasonable as before, even getting out of the car to open the door for her.
Amelia sat in the passenger seat, looking sideways at Mr. Stanley who was driving, and asked with some puzzlement, "Mr. Stanley, I'm really curious, what kind of cocktail party is worth you flying over from Mallowbank to attend?"
