Arriving at the hospital, Amelia stood in the up-going elevator, feeling completely disoriented.
Having worked in healthcare for many years, she was accustomed to the smell of disinfectant. Yet today, at this very moment, she was filled with disgust and fear for the scent.
Exiting the elevator, she saw Albert Foster sitting on a chair outside the operating theatre's entrance, with Nathan Taylor standing beside him.
She quickly walked over. Nathan greeted her politely as "Madam," which she didn't have the mood to worry about. Ignoring his presence, she asked Albert directly, "Dad, how's the situation?"
Albert shook his head wearily, "The doctor said it's very dangerous, Amelia. You have to be prepared."
She clenched her fingers, "Dad, what happened last night? Why did Julian Cooper suddenly come over?"
Before Albert could answer, Nathan's face changed dramatically, "Madam, what did you say? Old Mr. Cooper was here?"
