The crisp mint scent merged with the chilled aroma of water as the man slipped under the blanket. Amelia closed her eyes tightly as a shadow of regret rested on her heart.
He must have taken a cold shower, in such an autumn-chilled season, probably fretting about the chill of his body affecting her. Otherwise, he would not be so prim and proper, laying far off to the side. He would've snuggled up and held her in his arms by now.
As expected, roughly ten minutes later, he began inching toward her. From behind, he hugged her, his arms that had returned to a normal temperature somewhat possessively encircling her waist.
Then, Amelia felt his body heat gradually increase, becoming uncomfortably hot.
She remained motionless, trying to maintain calm and steady breathing. Perhaps assuming she was asleep, he didn't make any further moves, he simply held her.
