Amelia sneered, "You were the one who lost money last time, not me, if anyone should hold a grudge, shouldn't it be you against me?"
She had a pile of real business to deal with everyday and didn't have time to fuss about trivial matters.
Grace Johnson, however, seemed to have been poked in the mind suddenly; there was a flash in her eyes, then she said, "Amelia, you're kidding, it's just a small loss. I'm not that narrow-minded. Otherwise, how could I bring such a generous gift to make peace with you?"
Amelia looked up at her, "So you mean, if I don't accept your olive branch, then I am the narrow-minded one?"
It took Grace Johnson two seconds to choke out a laugh, "There's an old saying that one shouldn't slap a smiling face, isn't it a bit presumptuous of you to suspect people's good intentions like this?"
Amelia laughed too, "Miss Johnson, do you remember another proverb that says undue benevolence may be intrusive indeed?'
