That night, Amelia didn't even get out of bed. At around six o'clock, Daniel picked her up and coaxed her to eat half a bowl of bird's nest porridge before she drifted back to sleep in a daze.
When she woke up again, the sun was high in the sky, and she saw the man working on his laptop at the head of the bed just as she opened her eyes.
After being tormented by Daniel for a day and a night, Amelia was a little frightened. Every time she saw him, it triggered a distress reflex in her body.
"Why didn't you go to work again?" Her throat also hurt.
"So you're awake?" Daniel put down the laptop, "Didn't I say that I'd spend these two days at home with you?"
"..." You're clearly just using it as an excuse to stay home and consume me...
He leaned over, "Are you hungry? I made your favorite cornmeal gruel and shrimp dumplings."
She rolled over towards the edge of the bed, "I'm not hungry right now. I'll get up and eat later. I want to sleep a bit more. You go to the sofa or study."
