Daniel Cooper seemed taken aback by her agreement, his voice sinking a trace, "Amelia."
She looked up at him with a teasing smile and a twinkle in her eyes, concealing a sense of innocence, "It's alright, Daniel. It's my first time meeting such a high official. You can show me the ropes."
The man's eyes darkened, unsure whether she was genuinely naive or simply feigning innocence. He was puzzled by her enthusiasm for such a messy dinner party.
But, after a glance at her little hand tugging on his sleeve, he relented, "If that's the case, then I'll gladly comply."
And with that, they headed straight to the large private room across the hall.
As soon as they were seated, the dishes started arriving, and the men began toasting each other while the women worked on maintaining the ambiance and pouring drinks, and playing coy.
Of course, she was not included in this.
