Amelia looked at the elegant man cutting a steak across from her, "You knew someone was trying to trip me up, didn't you?"
He didn't raise his eyes but continued to cut carefully, "No."
"Then what were you doing at the hospital today?"
"Just passing by."
"..."
Amelia took a sip of her lemonade and changed the subject, "Are you close to Director Shane?"
"Not really."
"Then how did you end up together?"
"By chance."
"..." Couldn't he say any more than that?
Amelia scowled, "Speak properly..."
The man placed the cut steak in front of her, finally lifting his eyes, his smile gentle and light. "Have a taste. Does it suit your taste?"
"..." Forget it. If he didn't want to talk, she wouldn't bother asking.
Amelia glanced at the neatly cut steak that looked like little dice on her plate, took a bite, chewed it slowly, and nodded, "Not bad. It's pretty tender."
