Ruby raised her eyebrows slightly, "I'm just worried that if one day Mr. Cooper is taken away by another woman, you'll regret it."
"No, I won't." She almost instinctively retorted.
If he were really that fickle, he wouldn't have remained indifferent throughout his three-year marriage to Lana.
Ruby paused, "Are you that confident? Don't blame me for not warning you, a man like Mr. Cooper is thought of by numerous women daily. Overconfidence tends to bring about disappointment."
It was then that Amelia realized her gaffe and forced a smile, "I meant that I won't regret it."
If he really found another woman, that would be her choice, and she would have no right to regret it.
Heartbreak, after all, wasn't going to kill her.
But whenever she thought about another woman standing by his side, having dinner with him, and being held by him...her heart would ache unbearably.
When would this heart-wrenching pain subside? Would the pain eventually fade into numbness and familiarity?
