Benjamin had known all along that these little things wouldn't make much of a difference. He just wanted to paint Amelia in a bad light in front of his grandparents, and show all the people who came today that the Whites' new granddaughter was a greedy, petty, and despicable person.
Unexpectedly, the situation had been turned around by Daniel's remarks, causing the woman he brought to receive contemptuous looks and feel wronged in her heart.
Nonetheless, it didn't matter. The real show was yet to come.
He stepped forward and said with a smile, "Since it was all just a misunderstanding, let's just let bygones be bygones, shall we?"
Daniel cast him a brief glance, his lips curling into a knowing smirk. "Indeed, only by closing this chapter can we begin the next one, right, Mr. White?"
Benjamin felt a chill down his spine at Daniel's gaze, but perhaps it was only his imagination. It seemed to him that there was something hidden in Daniel's words.
